南北に長い日本。北の方では山々の冠雪が見られるものの、本格的な雪の季節にはまだ早い時期。冬も暖かな日差しに恵まれる地域では、まだ薄手のコートくらいで過ごせる頃ですね。
Japan is long from north to south. Although snow caps can be seen on the mountains in the north, it is still early for the full-fledged snow season. In regions blessed with warm sunlight even in winter, it’s still a good time to wear a light coat.
日中はぽかぽか陽気でも真夏のジリジリとした陽光ではなく、あたたかで柔らかな光が心地よい時期です。
Although it is warm and cheerful during the day, it is a time when the warm and soft light is pleasant, rather than the harsh sunlight of midsummer.
和らいだ日差しは、雨上がりに虹を描くときもふんわり。淡い虹の橋が空にかかります。古の人々は『冬に陽の氣が衰え、陰の氣が強くなると虹は見えなくなる』と考えていたとか。
The softened sunlight also creates a soft rainbow after the rain. A pale rainbow bridge crosses the sky. Ancient people believed that “in winter, when the yan energy weakens and the yin energy becomes stronger, rainbows become invisible.”
雪の画家たちが空から舞い降りる準備をしているのかもしれません。
