昼と夜の長さがほぼ等しくなる。
七十二候(しちじゅうにこう)は桜始開(さくらはじめてひらく)
桜の花が咲き始めるころ。
24 Solar Terms is Syunbun (=Vernal equinox)
When the length of day and night are almost equal.
72 pentads is Sakurahajimetehiraku.
When the cherry blossoms begin to bloom.
七十二候に桜が登場するのは、日本版のみです。元の中国版七十二候から、日本の実情に合わせて改変された時に採用された一つが「桜始開」それくらい日本人と桜は切ってもきれない関係なのかもしれません。
ところで、この時期の七十二候中国版＝宣明暦(せんみょうれき)は「雷乃発声」菜種梅雨(なたねづゆ)らしく雨が続く北九州は、オリジナル版に合わせたように春雷(しゅんらい)が響いています。
Sakura only appears in the Japanese version of the 72pentads. When the original Chinese version of the 72pentads=Seventy-Two Seasons was modified to suit Japan’s actual situation, one of the poems adopted was “Cherry Blossom Beginning.” Perhaps that is why Japanese people and cherry blossoms are so inseparable.
By the way, the Chinese version of the Seventy-Two Seasons Calendar (Senmyo Reki) for this period is “Kaminari-sunawachi-koewohassu.” Spring thunder is echoing today, coinciding with the rapeseed rainy season(Natanedsuyu).
ちなみに「雷乃発声(かみなりすなわちこえをはっす)」は、春分の末候です。次回ご紹介します。
