72 pentads is Sawashika-tsuno-otsuru. The season when deer (reindeer, elk) shed their horns.
ここでの大鹿＝麋は、トナカイやヘラジカのこと。今ではクリスマスシーズンに「サンタクロースが乗るソリを引くトナカイ」として、多くの人が姿を浮かべることができると思います。
ただ、七十二候が中国から伝わった当時は、日本に住む鹿しか想像がつかなかったのではないでしょうか。一般的に、日本に生息する鹿の角(つの)が生え替わるのは「春」
「見立て」を得意とする人々は、想像力で季節の違いをカバーしたのかもしれません。
Oshika = Big deer here refers to reindeer and elk. Nowadays, many people can be seen as reindeer pulling Santa Claus’s sleigh during the Christmas season.
However, at the time when 72 pentads were introduced from China, the only people who could imagine them were deer living in Japan. Generally, the antlers of deer living in Japan regrow in spring.
People who were good at “Mitate” may have used their imagination to cover the differences in seasons.

の意味。茶道の世界でも、本来ほかの用途で作られたものを、茶碗や水指などとして用いたりします。
